If your local farmers’ market is anything like ours, you’ll find in addition to fresh produce all manner of homemade prepared foods: fresh pasta, granola, breads, cookies, chocolates, even dog treats. I imagine it’s a hard-core commitment to make enough product to sell at a market.
It’s not surprising that Etsy, the online marketplace for handmade things, has an extensive food section. So if you don’t have access to homemade goodies locally, check out Etsy’s Baked Goods or Jams categories (there are other selections of candies, snacks, dried herbs and more). You’ll find items that meet special dietary needs, as well. Any of these would make sweet gifts to send.
Browsing through recently, a couple of items caught my eye:
From left: Brown Sugar Orange Marmalade by cupboardcook, Red Raspberry Jam by bovinebubbles, Zesty Lemon Curd by montgomerycountryst.
From left: Macarons by nicoleleechocolates, gourmet peanut-fudge brownies from pennypiesbakeshop, cake pops from scrambledpancakes.
