Best Christmas cookie recipes, and a giveaway.

As this year’s installment of Christmas Cookie Palooza winds to a close, and as a way to thank you for your support and readership, I’d like to offer you a gift. Or, rather, an opportunity to win a gift: A copy of “The Findlay Market Cookbook” and the Holiday issue of Edible Ohio Valley magazine, packaged in a fun burlap Edible Ohio Valley tote.

Here’s how it works: In the comment box below, post your favorite Christmas cookie (whether it’s a recipe you’ve discovered here, or your longtime family standby). NOTE: You must include an e-mail address so I can contact you if you win. At noon (ET) on Tuesday, December 23, I will randomly draw one winner from among the people who’ve commented. You’ll receive your gift before the end of the year.

Thanks for reading, and happy holidays to you!

  1. Enjoy your article very much, would love to win the book too. My favorite cookie has always been Sprltz cookies. Our family made many different shapes and they were the best friend.
    Thanks and Merry Christmas

  2. Love all your postings! I would have to say, my favorite cookie would be gingerbread, the soft version with a tad bit of icing!
    Merry Christmas to all!

  3. My Favorite cookie are the pecan snow balls, or maybe its the pecan tassies. Just give me nuts and I’m a happy girl.

  4. My family has made Green & Red Sugar Balls for years. So easy and delicious. Basically a shortbread with pecans. Yum. Plus in a nice jar they act as a table decoration!

  5. A favorite that I make every year is Cook’s Illustrated’s double chocolate chip cookies, but I particularly like trying new recipes. The most interesting recipe I’ve tried this year is the Momofuku cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow cookie.

  6. Italian wedding cookies, which are exactly like Mexican ones; but if you’re Italian, so are the cookies!

  7. PECAN DREAMS, all day long. It seems that Christmas is the only time that they are made and served at parties. For the last few years I have been relegated to doing all the baking, and guess what – I’m making the PECAN DREAMS.

Thanks for your efforts and Merry Christmas

  9. Bryn — Thanks for your great recipes. An interesting combo of old, new, decadent and healthy. Speaking of decadent — my favorite is Choc Chip Oatmeal Cinnamon Pecan.

  10. Carrot cookies are tops in my book. I use my mom’s old recipe and have no idea where she got it.

  11. The girls are partial to the standard Buckeyes and Hershey Kiss Peanut Butter Blossom cookies. I love a good bar cookie, so may be trying your recipe you have shown –the pretzel crust sounds amazing! May be what I may make for our Christmas day dessert!

  12. Chocolate cookies with Andes mints melted and swirled on top or Snickerdoodles. My husband would say white chocolate buckeyes. But all of these we just save for making around the holidays.
