Wine: Red Diamond Merlot 2008
Price: $9
Tasting notes: ripe plummy fruit, finishes silky with a rich mouthfeel
Story: Washington State is a great region for big red wines of this style, and the Red Diamond is a terrific find. For the buck, this might be the best red wine that we’ve tasted in a long time. This wine drinks well with hearty food, but also can be quaffed on its own without any complaints. Buy it by the case. I’m going out this week to try and stock up—hope I beat you to the shelf!
